On May 13, the semifinal of the ISA Cup English Speaking Contest was held successfully. Mr. Gary Butner, Academic Center Director at ISA International Education Group, Mr. Chris Garden, Academic Centre Executive Manager at ISA International Education Group, Mr. Ray Lin, the co-founder of Speak & Lead and a bilingual public speaking coach, Ms. Ellen Wang, Oral English teacher at Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology are the judges of this competition.

5月13日，爱莎杯英语演讲比赛半决赛顺利举行。爱莎国际教育集团学术中心总监Gary Butner，爱莎国际教育集团学术中心经理Chris Garden，语言力联合创始人、中英文公共演讲教练 Ray Lin，广州理工学院英语口语老师Ellen Wang担任本次比赛的评委。

The format of the semi-final was a 3-5 minute speech and an impromptu question and answer session, which tested the overall quality and language skills of the contestants to a great extent. Speech is a well-designed communication and a lot of preparation has gone into any good speech. In order to present the best version of themselves on stage, the contestants took every minute to read and rehearse their scripts before the competition.

此次半决赛形式为3-5分钟演讲和即兴问答，在很大程度上考验了选手的综合素质和各项语言表达能力。演讲是一场精心设计的沟通，任何一场精彩的演讲，背后都做了非常多的准备工作。为了在讲台上呈现出状态最好的自己，选手们甚至在赛前都抓住每一分每一秒的时间进行读稿和演练。

Before the competition began, Ms Beth, the Head of ISA International Academy, gave a speech and welcomed the contestants who had stood out in the audition. In the semi-finals, they gave full play to their talents, interpreting and expressing the theme in a diverse manner, showing their confidence and strength. Their outstanding performances were well received by the judges and the audience applauded.

比赛正式开始前，爱莎国际学苑校长Beth女士致辞并欢迎了从初赛中脱颖而出的选手们。在半决赛中，他们充分发挥出了自己的才能，对主题进行多样化地解读和流畅地表达，尽情展现自己的自信和实力。出彩的表现得到了评委们的肯定和全场的热烈掌声。

1. FinalsFormat总决赛赛制

1. Primary Group A Format:

小学A组赛制：

a) 3-minute Prepared Speech:

3分钟备稿演讲：

Topic: Children today have too much screen time.

题目：你如何看待孩子们现在花了太多时间在看电子屏幕上面？

b) 1-minute Picture Storytelling:

1分钟看图讲故事：

i. A series of numbers will be displayed on the big screen, with a hidden picture behind each number.

将在大屏幕上显示一串数字，每个数字背后藏有一道张图片；

ii. Participants choose a picture and explain the story behind it: What story is happening in the picture?

选手选择图片并讲解：该图片中发生了什么故事；

2. Primary Group B Format:

小学B组赛制：

a)3-minute Prepared Speech:

3分钟备稿演讲：

Topic: Social media puts too much pressure on children to look attractive and fashionable.

题目：社交媒体给孩子们施加了太多压力，因为孩子们希望自己看起来具有吸引力和时尚感。

b) 1-minute Impromptu Speech:

1分钟即兴演讲：

i. Pictures will be displayed on the big screen, with a question hidden behind each picture.

将在大屏幕上显示图片，每张图片背后藏有一道题目；

ii. Participants choose a picture and give a 1-minute speech on the topic related to that picture.

选手选择图片，并就该话题，进行一段1分钟的演讲；

3. Secondary School Group Format (A&B):

中学组赛制（AB组合并）：

a) 5-minute Prepared Speech:

5分钟备稿演讲：

Topic: It is safe and beneficial for us to search for intelligent alien life.

题目：探索有智慧的外星生命对我们来说是安全和有益的。

b) After all the speeches are delivered, a debate competition will take place:

全部演讲者演讲结束之后，进行一场辩论赛：

14 individuals are randomly assigned to affirmative or negative positions and teams.

Round 1: 4 individuals form a team; two teams compete against each other.

Round 2: 3 individuals form a team; two teams compete against each other.

Competition Format:

a) First speakers from the affirmative and negative sides present their arguments for 3 minutes each.

b) Second speakers from the negative side present their rebuttal speeches for 2 minutes each.

c) Third speakers from the negative side present their rebuttal speeches for 2 minutes each.

d) Free debate for the entire group, with each participant given 2 minutes, totalling 4 minutes.

e) Fourth speakers (or a randomly selected member of a 3-person team) give a concluding speech for 2 minutes.

The entire process lasts for 22 minutes.

1. 14人抽好正反方及组别；第一轮：4人一队；2队PK；第二轮：3人一队；2队PK；

2. 赛制：

a) 正反方1辩立论发言，各3分钟；

b) 2辩反驳发言，各2分钟；

c) 3辩反驳发言，各2分钟；

d) 全场自由辩论，各2分钟，共4分钟；

e) 4辩（3人队则由随机一人担任）总结发言，2分钟。

全程共：22分钟

3. Scoring评分标准

The Review Team consists of international academic experts, international language teachers, and academic figures from local organisations.

比赛评审团由国际学术专家，国际语言教师，演讲家，以及当地权威机构学术人士共同组成。

The entire event adopts a full score of 100 points.

活动全程采用满分100分制。

4. Cost of the Finals费用和报名截止时间

The Finals Fee: 389 yuan/per student

AboutCollaborative Innovation Centre

for the Education of International Understanding

际理解教育协同创新中心

1946年，联合国教科文组织首先提出国际理解教育的概念，呼吁各国在教育中融入国际理解内容，以理解、和平、共生为价值理念，促进人们消解冲突、致力于世界和平。2016年，我国发布的《中国学生发展核心素养》中提出需对学生开展“国际理解教育”，让其具有全球意识和开放心态参与跨文化交流。

2020年，黄埔区教育局成立国际理解教育协同创新中心（以下简称“中心”），并授牌予广州科学城爱莎外籍人员子女学校。黄埔区是广州首个立足“国际理解教育”建设协同创新平台的区域。中心立足黄埔区，旨在引导广州市乃至大湾区优质的国际教育资源在人才培养、课程优化、信息资源共享等方面发挥协同优势，致力于推进校际之间、校企之间、学校与社区之间在国际理解方面的交流与融合，推动湾区国际教育理论与实践的创新，形成国际教育创新要素聚集的战略高地，推动国际理解教育协同创新模式的可持续发展。

In 1946, UNESCO first proposed the concept of education for international understanding, calling on countries to integrate the content of international understanding into education, take understanding, peace and symbiosis as key values, and encourage people to resolve conflicts and commit themselves to world peace. In 2016, the "Core Literacy of Chinese Students" issued by China proposed the need to carry out "international understanding education" for students, so that they have global awareness and an open mind to participate in cross-cultural exchanges.

In 2020, ISA Science City International School of Guangzhou was awarded the Collaborative Innovation Centre for the Education of International Understanding (hereinafter referred to as the "CICEIU") by the Huangpu District Education Bureau. Huangpu District is the first region in Guangzhou to build a collaborative innovation platform based on "international understanding education". Based in Huangpu District, CICEIU aims to guide high-quality international education resources in Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area to play synergistic advantages in personnel training, curriculum optimisation, and information resource sharing. It is also committed to promote interschool, university-enterprise, and school-community exchange and integration in international understanding, and promote the innovation of international education theory and practice in the Greater Bay Area. It will also form a strategic platform for the aggregation of international educational innovation elements and promote the sustainable development of the collaborative innovation model of international understanding education.
